It is totally ridiculous how most of the world has no idea and is just plain ignorant to what is happening with our planet. I'm talking about a lot of different things not just global warming, I'm talking about water shortages and oil problems and food problems and corrupt governments and capitalism...and the list goes on.
As human beings it is unique to us to be able to tell the difference between right and wrong...and still make the wrong decision. People need to demand change. I work to promote green products and I find it unbelievable that I have to convince people to help the environment. I mean come on people, you know what's right and what's wrong...so why do affiliate marketers promote products like Viagra instead of green products? The fact is whatever marketers promote, people will buy. The general population buys what they're told to buy, so if advertisers and businesses promoted green products then the people would buy them, simple as that.
We have to make a change in our world, today. Unfortunately we don't see what the problem is because the actual affects of what we're doing won't show up for 30-40 years! Think about how much worse problems in the world have gotten in the last 20...now think about the next 20...it's just going to get worse!
I'm not saying that people stop buying nice things or people stop wanting to make a profit, I'm just saying that people need to pay attention to where their money is being spent and who you are supporting when you spend it. Simple and ethical, give your money to companies and products that you think do good for our environment and help people...maybe I expect too much, I have a degree in Anthropology and one in Philosophy so maybe I assume people can think. When it seems obvious most of the consumers in the world don't think at all.
If you are reading this go to google and just punch in 'watch_________' and fill in the blank with "Flow: For the Love of Water" & " The Age of Stupid" & "Capitalism: A love story". Watch those documentaries and decide for yourself.
The problem in the world is that the wrong people are running things, we know that the top 1% of the worlds population own more than 95% combined, but the one way the 95% can take charge is in countries where people can vote. In the US if 95% of the population voted then the top 1% wouldn't be ruling the country. Laws and bills and presidents would truly represent the people, unfortunately the voter turn out is awful so this is the US the world has to deal with... I'm Canadian by the way and we have our problems in government as well. I'm not trying to put down any one country I'm just saying that as a whole too many people are sheeps following the shepherd, instead of deciding what is right for themselves (unfortunately the shepherd is actually a wolf in most cases!)
I use Envirotabs in my car, and I promote GreenProfits.ca, and I feel good about how I impact the world. I'm not perfect but until companies are forced to provide the people of the world with cleaner burning fuel or environmentally safe products I think people just need to make the decision on their own to protect our planet.
I apologize for this post it was more of a rant then a post, I could have gone on a lot longer and written an essay or something...it just frustrates the hell out of me that people know what's best and still do what's worst.
